Lost Planet 2 Multiplayer Impressions
By Dan Birlew | Posted April 8, 2010 in Industry Insider | 2 Comments »Just want to throw out a quick blog post after a few rounds in the Lost Planet 2 Multiplayer Beta. Thanks to Vtoid for getting me a code. Below is a video from the 360 version showing all the character customization options you can choose for your weapon loadout. You change weaponry using the Left Stick and can even test fire by pulling the Left Trigger:
Here’s a look at the multiplayer control layout from the in-game screen:
The demo features two modes: ‘Elimination’ which is basic deathmatch and ‘Data Post Battle’ which is a team game about capturing positions. To win ‘Data Post Battle Mode’ you must activate all the data posts for your team (so if you’re red team, you want to turn them all red) and then hold them for a certain amount of time which I haven’t determined yet.

The objective of Data Post Battle is to activate all the machines for your team, and then prevent the other team from taking them away.
Armored vehicles are available to use. You may either jump into the vehicle or detach a chain gun from it and use it like a weapon. Chain guns are extremely heavy, however, and limit mobility.
Although these images come from a game still in development my impression is that it’s pretty far along, and extremely stable. The third person perspective takes some getting used to, especially for someone who’s been playing Modern Combat 2 for months.
If you’re feeling a bit under-skilled compared to everyone else there’s also a public Co-op demo for Lost Planet 2 where you can hone your skills with others, not to mention you can still buy the last game on Xbox Live!
